A city hall wedding may not rank high on your list of elegant weddings, but if the city hall is in San Francisco, you may need to reevaluate your list! San Francisco’s City Hall is one of the most striking and beautiful buildings you could imagine for a wedding. With it’s magnificent rotunda, grand staircase, beautiful balconies, etc. it is a bride’s (and photographer’s) dream!
There are multiple places inside where you can have your ceremony….just consult with the officiant when you check in. The check-in process is fairly streamlined – you typically only need about 20 min. before the ceremony if you’ve obtained your license ahead of time.
Photography can be done in any of the public spaces – four floors of opportunities. You may think it would feel like getting married in a fish bowl, with people everywhere watching your ceremony and getting in the way of the photographs. Not so! There is typically very few, if any, “uninvited observers” and it’s not hard to avoid getting passers by in the photographs. This is especially true of pre or post-ceremony photos with family and friends on the 3rd and 4th floors. No limits on the time for photographs either!
